Entry Level Furniture Maker – Apprentice

Job Reports to Team Leader, Facility Manager

Job Description:
Perform a wide variety of joinery tasks related to wood, assisting craftsman by milling, shaping and sanding parts for furniture manufacture using stationary and hand tools. Must be intensely aware of quality standards and is responsible for understanding and exhibiting excellent work standards. Sets and operates a variety of woodworking machines, including power and hand tools.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Some woodwork or furniture making experience in high end cabinet or furniture shop

  • Ability to work with power and hand tools

  • Ability to work within close tolerances, i.e. fractions of inches

  • Ability to work with large commercial power tools such as shapers, planers, table saws

  • Must be able to follow directions and work well with groups of people

  • Must be able to meet the requirements of the schedule

  • Must wear personal protection equipment
  • Sands and preps furniture and furniture parts for finishing
  • Maintains a clean and safe work place
  • 
Must have basic woodworking hand tools

  • Assists in maintaining the efficiency, effectiveness, safety and positive work environment 

  • Must be able to read and understand blue prints bills of materials, drawings or other instructions



Essential Mental Functions:

  • 
Must be able to work within close tolerances
  • 
Must be able to measure materials using tools such as tape measures, squares, and calipers

  • Must be able to perform basic calculations



Essential Physical Functions:

  • 

Flexibility to work in the standing, squatting, or kneeling position, as well as reaching overhead with occasional twisting and bending while performing any of the above tasks.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, 75 pounds occasionally

Additional Comments:


  • Work schedule is generally 7:00 a.m. — 3:30 p.m. five days per week
  • From time to time, it may be necessary to work overtime or on weekends
  • Must work as part of a team

  • Attendance and punctuality very important
  • 
Occasionally make deliveries or pick-up materials and supplies
  • Vocational schooling a plus
  • We do high end contract work and residential furniture
