Summer is an ideal time to set up that home office you’ve always dreamed of.  Perhaps you need to be around more to supervise kids at home for the summer.  Maybe you have a flexible schedule and want to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather.  Or, you may be one of the 33 million US workers who work at home at least part of the time.  

In a recent Boston Globe article, writer Jaci Conry cites an eye-opening statistic from the American Institute of Architects: “70 percent of home renovation plans include space for a home office or study of some kind.”

Of course, many people don’t have the option of renovating to create a custom office space.  And, even if you don’t have a spare bedroom to set up shop, you may be able to carve out enough space in a corner of another room.  With so much electronic filing, there is less need for space-consuming file cabinets.  All you really need is a sturdy desk and a comfortable chair.
